And still get to play that crazy out-jazz we love so much!

Fascinating first musical memory! That explains ALOT! :)Rodger Colemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14447735420151521491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34883285.post-13685986105475327992009-09-08T13:16:43.039-05:002009-09-08T13:16:43.039-05:00Now I have another reason to thank Elvis: getting ...Now I have another reason to thank Elvis: getting you to Nashville, where, because of the family connection, I've been able to hook up with you so often over the years.

My other reason for thanking Elvis: supplying me with my very first music memory (and indeed one of my earliest memories ever): listening to my aunt's copy of the single "Hound Dog" at my grandparents' house in Goldsboro, NC, in what must have been 1957 or '58. It's a visual memory too: I remember looking down from above at the revolving 45, watching the HMV dog spin around and around. To this day I get all warm and gooey whenever I see that black RCA label with the dog. It was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with records, and with great music. Thanks, Elvis!Samnoreply@blogger.com
