Commentary:
It’s been
another insanely busy week chez NuVoid as renovations to my studio continue to
take up pretty much all of my spare time. As you can see from the photograph
above, the ceiling is now complete. To be honest, I was skeptical of the wood panel idea, but the result is amazing! We painted the old
ceiling tiles bright white to match the trim and re-installed them around the
edge of the room, creating a sort of crown molding effect, which makes the red
oak stained panels “pop.” I have to admit, it looks way nicer than the usual
drop ceiling! Combined with track lighting and forest green walls, the room
is really starting to take shape.
The rubber
flooring will be delivered on Monday, which needs to acclimate to the
environment before we put it down later in the week. In the meantime, I’ll be touching
up the paint job and generally cleaning up the mess we’ve made. That just leaves
the cutting, painting and installation of the baseboards to finish off the room.
Hopefully, the area rug will arrive in time to move in next weekend! Hooray!

SHAMELESS PLUG DEPT.
If you're wondering what sort of thing I intend to do in the newly-renovated studio, check out my CD, Rodger Coleman & Sam Byrd: "Indeterminate (Improvisations for Piano and Drums)":
Wow--can't wait to see (and hopefully play in) the finished result!
