Commentary:

The LP project, entitled Rodger Coleman & Sam Byrd - Cosmologies, is coming along nicely and was mastered this week by the legendary engineer, Richard Dodd (who also mastered my CD). This time, I actually got meet him! It was all I could do not to badger him with questions about Robert Wyatt, Pete Sinfeld, George Harrison, Tom Petty, et al.  He was a terrifically nice guy, a perfect English gentleman and very funny. I was able to listen to a bit of the music in his mastering suite, which was an amazing experience.  He was actually complementary of the sound of my home recording and said it took less time than he expected to complete the mastering. That made me feel really good!

Lacquers are being cut next week at Welcome to 1979 and will be delivered to United Record Pressing shortly after that. Unfortunately, Record Store Day has overwhelmed every vinyl pressing plant in the world, and there will be a significant delay (up to eight weeks) before my record will be completed. However, I am planning to make the music available online via Bandcamp soon. Stay tuned!

  1. That is very exciting! Also, who would have thought that there'd be so much record pressing in general going on this century? It's pretty cool.
