Commentary:

I learn about a lot of interesting music in the YouTube Vinyl Community -- more than I can possibly keep up with!

But one record really stood out recently, with its beautiful, hand silkscreened jacket and described by a trusted VC-er as "Heldon meets Miles Davis in New Zealand" (or something like that).

Intrigued, I checked out Gianmarco Liguori's Duga-3 over on Bandcamp and ordered a copy. I enjoyed the immediate (lossless) download while waiting for the LP, which arrived astonishingly fast from the other side of the world.

Released in a limited edition of 200 vinyl copies back in 2011, I am frankly amazed this didn't sell out long ago; it is simply one of the best records I've heard in a long time. Yes, I hear Heldon and electric Miles -- but also some contemporary classical moves and a very up-to-date approach to technology which makes it all hard to classify. In fact, I hear something new every time I put it on. Seriously, go check it out.

I hope the VC buys them all up. Worth every penny, in my opinion -- even with international shipping costs being what they are.

Anyway, you can listen to me yammer while it plays in the background on my latest video. Even more amazing, Mr. Liguori included a seven-inch from 2007 and a handwritten postcard in the package and we have corresponded a bit via email since posting this video. Dig it!
