Commentary:

A couple of months ago, I was contacted by Record Collector Magazine, the UK's longest-running music monthly, about being featured as "The Collector" of the month in a forthcoming issue. I was hugely flattered and happily answered the questions and took photographs of some of my treasures--but I was not convinced it would really happen. Well, sure enough, here I am in the new issue! What an amazing honor!

Inspired by all the attention, I went down to the Birmingham Record Show this weekend and bought a ton of cool records. Yes, I am insane!

Congrats on the Record Collector article. I was thinking recently that they should profile you on Dust & Grooves.
That Lindisfarn record "Fog on the Thyme" was one I use to have and I have fond memories. A pretty good haul there. you guys are so lucky with the availability of such stuff. It is pretty limited here and the prices are also pretty high. I just had another big shop up here at the only record emporium left in the city and am paying between $20 to $50 per album.

Hi Rodger,
Fond of your blog and videos. been nice to watch as I've recently been starting a record collection. Found that same Gentle Giant record "Three Friends" in a thrift store in Iowa City just today!
In seeing those Mary Halvorson records you put in the article it occurred to me, as a Halvorson contemporary of sorts, that you'd like the music of Joshua Abrams, if you don't know it already. His records with his group Natural Information are excellent, namely his most recent, Magnetoception, and the previous one, Represencing. The label he's on, Eremite, puts out great stuff in general.

Funny, I was just looking at the July issue of The Wire today and came across the blindfold test for Joshua Abrams, and I was thinking I should check him out. So, thanks for the tip, "Unknown"!

Rodger, big congrats on the Record Collector feature. Really nice! And it's great to see a picture of "Touch" --that's such a great album.

Hey Rodger, here is a video reply to your video of record collecting. The quality ain't the best as I did it with my laptop and the lighting wasn't the best.

Interesting how this video was 6.5G in size and took me nearly 24 hours to upoload to youtube. not sure why they are so big when I download ripped movies in 1080p for less than 2G.

cheers
Roddus.

Hi, Roddus! Great to see your face! I have subscribed to your channel. I convert .mov files to MP4 before uploading to YouTube, in order to reduce the file size. Hope that helps!
