Some pretty obscure records from my point of view here but another interesting video. The Vinyl reissue thing seems to be in full swing now with new vinyl reissues even turning up in The Warehouse(our version of Walmart).I had a browse through their collection today with mostly Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Led Zeppelin remasters and AC/DC just to name a few of the big guys available there.The price tags were pretty steep but They also had some cheaper Jazz and blues reissues, mostly by artists I already have but I was wary about the quality of the pressings and the remastering. The label that produced them was unfamiliar to me. I would expect the quality vinyl reissues, aimed at the audiophile market, would be, hopefully, better quality than the originals, but as the vinyl market increases lesser quality product will inevitably filter into the market. Now I am about to re-enter the vinyl market, I was thinking I'll probably stick to older recordings, especially Jazz and blues and pre digital rock/pop and any rarer stuff the budget allows.
Not sure if you are aware of the old Mutant sounds Blog from a couple of years back but they had a listing of around 3000 obscure records on their site most of which were commercially unavailable. I would love to get my hands on some of the vinyl copies of the outlandish music from there. A lot of money need though.
Hi, Roddus! Yes, I suppose it's some pretty obscure stuff -- but I like it! Reissues can be hit or miss, though some stuff is so rare, it hardly matters. For audiophile stuff, I highly recommend Music Matters for their Blue Note reissues and, of course, Mobile Fidelity, who has been doing really spectacular, all-analog reissues. Pricey, but worth it.
